Deaths are listed separately for patients at Long Term Care Facilities because patients in these facilities are more isolated than the general public and represent a particularly vulnerable population. Source: California Reportable Disease Information Exchange. Data Notes: Deaths are reported by the date of death. Death accounted for in the dataset do not necessarily mean that the individuals died from COVID-19.

The dataset provides the total daily number of test for COVID-19 among Santa Clara County residents. Source: California Reportable Disease Information Exchange. Data Notes: A test represents at least one specimen tested per person per day. Some people will have multiple specimens collected and tested during the same visit but are only counted once per day. If a person is tested multiple times on different days then he or she will be counted for each day he or she was tested. The positivity rate is the percent of positive tests out of total tests performed.

This dataset aggregates SARS‑CoV‑2 test results for inmates at Elmwood and Main Jail. It includes nucleic acid amplification tests (e.g., PCR tests) and antigen tests collected by Santa Clara County Custody Health Services since 2020 up to yesterday. It does not include indeterminate results or invalid tests; as of December 2022, fewer than 0.015% of tests collected have reported indeterminate results, and fewer than 0.007% have been reported as invalid.

This dataset aggregates inmate cases of COVID-19; it includes cases confirmed by nucleic acid amplification tests (e.g., PCR tests) collected internally (at Elmwood and Main Jail by Santa Clara County Custody Health Services) and externally (outside Elmwood and Main Jail).

The Office of the Sheriff updates this dataset weekdays, typically between 10:00 and 12:00 PM, after receiving a snapshot report from Custody Health Services at 06:00 AM, investigating custody statuses of inmates, and incorporating updates around the clock.

Because the case count includes cases confirmed by tests collected internally and externally, the case count may be greater than the positive test result count, which is based on tests collected by Custody Health Services only.
